Analyzing Booking Page Traffic with Google Analytics

Overview

Do you use Google Analytics to analyze how your clients interact with your website? You can also use Google Analytics to track how those clients engage with your Booking Page. In this article, you'll learn how to set up your Google Analytics integration and analyze the data that you're collecting.

Creating Your Web Property 🛠

Login to your Google Analytics account and access your Admin settings by clicking the gear icon in the bottom left corner of your screen.

While on the Admin tab, click the Create New Property button.

Give your property a name (we suggest something simple like "Booking Page" or "Self-Scheduling Page"), and specify your time zone and currency. Click Next.

On the next screen, you'll have to enter a few details for Google about your business. Once you've done that, click Create.

Now it's time to set up a data stream. On the "Choose a platform" step, select Web.

Enter your Booking Page URL and enter something for your Stream name. Click Create Stream.

On the screen that appears, find the Measurement ID. Please send this G-Code to your Customer Success Manager. They will ensure it's implemented into your Booking Page(s).

Please note: You can use your existing web property, but you'll need to then subsequently create Filters or Views to ensure you're looking at the correct data.

Analyzing Traffic to Your Booking Page 📈

Login to your Google Analytics account and access the Reports section by clicking the icon at the top of the menu on the left side of your screen.

Under Engagement, click Pages and screens to find data about how your clients are interacting with your Booking Page.

On the screen that appears, scroll to the bottom and look for the dropdown menu under Page title and screen class. Click this option and select Page page + query string and screen class.

The report will show how your clients engage with each step of your Booking Page. If you have a typical Booking Page setup, the flow of pages will be /steps/matching > /steps/products > /steps/time > /steps/details >/steps/complete. Using this data, you can analyze where your clients might be abandoning the process and use these insights to make improvements to your Booking Page. Your Customer Success Manager can also help suggest tips that can improve conversion rates.
